where can i buy a smart card

The Smart Card reader is entirely different than the SD card reader. I've not had a thinkpad w/ smart card reader as my primary machine, although I've always been intrigued to toy with it for logon. I know someone who works at a VA . I have a problem with my X230 - a few weeks ago I noticed the card reader stopped working. It's not visible in Windows Device Manager at all. It's not disabled in the BIOS.Some: AuthenTec fingerprint reader on palm rest, swipe sensor, LED indicator, Power On Authentication, supports the security chip 3-years /1-yr battery - depot repair service / service upgrades 22 available
I bought a very well-spec'd X240 on closeout at a super price. It has 180GB SSD, 8GB RAM, fingerprint reader and the IPS (non-touch) display for 0. Only problem is that I need a smart card reader and hate USB add-ons when a built-in solution is available.
If you get a smartcard reader, make sure you also have a dummy card for it. Filling that laptop space with the cardreader will prevent unnecessary flexing of palmrest and/or chassis. Your X230 and W530 have the card reader onboard, AFAIK, whereas the T430s has it as an ExpressCard adapter - this may affect the default power and plug/unplug policies that Windows applies to it. Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T16 Gen 3 (21MQ), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG. I figure there may be a bluetooth board or something with NFC if I coreboot and do the whitelist removal mod, but I'm not sure. Part of my use case if I'm looking at it for NFC-enabled smart cards. Mostly just to say I can, although NFC tags would be neat to use with Arch Linux in some way. Thanks!
