Alongside, the card also has the capability to hold the BMTC Pass. Getting a Metro Travel Card is just the cherry on top for a smooth commute! You can use your Metro Travel Card or Smart Card on the purple as well as the green line of the Bangalore metro. The idea is to save you the trouble of waiting in line at ticket counters.

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will launch its long-awaited smart cards on June 17 so that commuters can take bus rides using pre-loaded cards and not use cash.

Apart from serving as an identification document, the smart cards can be used to purchase bus tickets and also swiped at point-of-sale (POS) enabled merchant establishments. The card costs ₹ 5 (6.0¢ US) and can be recharged for up to ₹ 10,000 (US0).
