Near-field communication ( NFC) is a set of communication protocols that enables communication between two electronic devices over a distance of 4 cm ( in) or less. NFC offers a low-speed connection through a simple setup that can be used for the bootstrapping of capable wireless connections. Product: HP EliteBook 840 G3. Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit) I cannot find any instructions how to use NFC tag reader on laptop. I have intalled driver so it seems device is in there but it does not react on any NFC tag I use. There IS an NFC driver available in the driver downloads section of HP (which I downloaded and installed). I do NOT have an NFC device to activate/deactivate in the BIOS, nor does an NFC module show up in the driver manager of Windows (of course I rebooted).

An NFC reader on a laptop would essentially allow you to do the same stuff as you would with a phone using NFC technology, though would obviously be a lot more inconvenient when it comes to say paying for something in a shop by whipping out your laptop. The nfc module was an configurable option that had to be ordered for the Elitebook 840 G2. Are you certain that you have it?
