The Smart Card reader is entirely different than the SD card reader. I've not had a thinkpad w/ smart card reader as my primary machine, although I've always been intrigued to toy with it for logon. I know someone who works at a VA hospital and they use smartcards for their machine.

Any help would be great. I want to try and resolve this before I go and look for other alternatives like getting a used nfc reader or buying the normal sized nfc tags and writing .
